Showering and bathing
Some patients are afraid to shower or bath shortly after surgery. Nevertheless, this can be done without any problem. Just make sure no (large quantities of) water enters the tracheostoma. Water will then enter the lungs directly. Use special provisions for showering and bathing. For instance, a shower protector or shower pipe. Make sure the neck stays above the water in a bath.
